No new pictures this time...
As another milestone in our lives unfolds with Amy finishing her OB-Gyn residency and the fact that we've now been married 8 years (as of Tuesday the 10th), I am astounded and humbled by how we got to where we are today. God's grace is good. And part of that grace has been poured out on us through our seperate families.
Just wanted to send a heart-felt thank you to our families. Far too often we get "too busy" to thank those who mean the most to us, do the most for us, and got us where we are.
Amy and I want to say a special thank you to our immediate families.
To our parents, thank you for all the times you keep our kids while we're on call, moonlighting, or just need a night to ourselves. Thank you for the "loans" you've given us over the years. Thank you for the free advice on every subject under the sun, from finances to child-rearing to home repairs and decorating. Thank you for taking all the late-night emergency calls whether it was for last minute child-care or just to advise us on the next, biggest crisis in our lives. Thank you for it all.
To our siblings, thank you for the simple calls to check on us and our children. Thank you for the times you came to help us watch Bo and Carlyle. Thank you for adding the perfect amount of comic relief for us when we get together over holidays, weekends, or vacations. Thank you especially for yours and your family's involvement in our children's lives - what a blessing that hardly a night goes by that we don't pray with Bo and thank God INDIVIDUALLY for Mike, Kelly, Caroline, William, Mary Karen, Adam, Kristi, Drew, Tucker, Lane, "big" Bo, Conner, Josh, Becky, Alex, Elizabeth, and Jonathan --> and Bo reminds me if I miss ANY of you.
To our grandparents, thank you for your years of support before we ever started our own family but even more so, thank you for your prayers and support now that we are "on our own" - hardly... Certainly a blessing too for our children to know that they are prayed for daily by 5 great-grandparents.
To our extended families (aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, first/second/and third cousins) who keep up with us through this site or through other family, thank you too for your prayers for our little family. It is always good to see your families' pictures when I get them and always good to get updates on how you're doing. We miss those of you we rarely get to see...
To our friends, those of you closest to us - a very special thank you for putting up with us during these past few years. Thank you for understanding that unanswered calls, unreturned messages, infrequent visits, and "I'm going to have to run" don't mean that your friendships are not important to us. Thank you even more for cherishing the times when we can answer or make the phone call to visit, when we can come to visit, or when we can share time together. Those are our favorite times too.
To all of you who have helped Amy and I during her school and residency, we thank you. Without your prayers and support, we could not have even dreamt of getting here.
Still a little more time to put in at the University for both of us, but wanted to use this occasion to say a thank you to all of you.
More later on Amy's accomplishment...

Congratulations on all your family's accomplishments recently. God is good! We know a little about what it feels like to finish long awaited journeys and how sweet it is! What really touched me though Ben were the words you expressed about your mother-in-law. What a blessing to have such a wonderful role model for yourselves and your children. Furthermore, the blessing that you are kind enough to notice and proud enough to share. I never had the fortune to meet Amy's Mom, but I remember vividly how passionately Amy spoke of her mother's mission, it was one of the first conversations Amy and ever had, if that might a add alittle weight to how important this was to her as well. My mother passed away a month ago. She died on a Monday, Tues she would have had a feeding tube put in and Wed or Thurs she would have had to go to a Rehab Facility or Hospice would have had to come in. All that knew my mother believe she chose to go before those things were set in motion, to make decitions easier on my father in the foreseeable future. My father and my older brother were her hospice. I saw the toll it took on them on so many levels, so I know how special of a person it takes to chose that line of ministry as their life's work. what is even more amazing to me, is not just the job itself, which honostly is enough in and of itself, but this is not care for family, that is easily understandable, but this is care for strangers and their families when they need it most. If that is not truely living the message of Christ... then I don't know what is. I gone on long enough, as usual, but felt compelled to write this and quite honostly that is saying a lot because I can't tell you in the last month when I've felt compelled to do more than the minimum. Take care of yourselves and sent my love and congrats to Amy with love in Christ <+>< Christine Sy
