Well, you learn alot travelling with two small children. This Christmas, Amy and I learned that we'll travel LESS in the future...
It was a great Christmas as far as getting to see family and friends. We spent the first part of the holiday in Tupelo with Amy's family. Santa came to the Collins house, and brought way more than any of us deserved. We made our first trip in several years back to Amy's family's land and house near Fulton, MS. Amy's mom has done an unbelievable job refurbishing a place that was already special to her entire family. This is the same farmhouse where Amy and I were engaged - nearly 8 years ago now... We had a great visit with her entire family including "Uncle C" who was down from Washington DC for the holidays. Lots of great memories, laughs, and plans for the new year.
We spent Christmas night with my family in Forest and actually got to make a few more brief visits over the next several days. The main attraction was Aunt Becky's new engagement ring. Carlyle and Bo got to spend lots of time with their aunt who was down from Connecticut while Amy and I worked off and on through the holiday. We had great visits with my entire family - at times 18 of us under one roof... Wedding plans are underway, new injuries are pending (thanks to Bo's one request for Christmas - roller skates), and Scott county is still my favorite place in the world.
Amy and I can't thank our families enough for loving us and our children the way they do. It always makes the travelling easier when we have so many smiling faces waiting on the four of us when we get there. Thank you to all of you who make us smile back...
Enjoy these smiles.
